A Brief History of Jake Owen

Jake Owen and his twin brother Jarrod were born in Vero Beach, Florida in 1981. Jake eventually took up golf, and began pursuing a career as a professional golfer, winning his first golf tournament at age fifteen. After high school, he attended Florida State University; a wakeboarding accident left him unable to continue playing golf.
While recovering, he borrowed a neighbor’s guitar and taught himself how to play it. After performing regularly at a campus bar,he soon took up writing his own material as well. He then moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
In 2006, Owen released his debut single, “Yee Haw”. Owen describes the song as being written “to make people have a good time.” This song,was the lead-off single to his debut album, Startin’ with Me.
He has appeared as an opening act for acts such as Brad Paisley, Sugarland and Carrie Underwood on their tours.
His second studio album, Easy Does It, was released in 2009. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums.
Currently, he is preparing to release his upcoming album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, on August 30, 2011.
Owen toured with Keith Urban on his 2011 Get Closer World Tour.
